The ‘Rex Pollock’ Apprenticeship is a scheme for training a new generation of operators in the crane hire industry. It’s an on-the-job training scheme and requires some reading, study, theory and practical examinations. This Apprenticeship enables the Apprentice to gain a license to practice in a regulated profession. They will build a career for their future. Most of the training is done while working onsite to help the recipient learn the crane business, in exchange for their continued labour for an agreed period after they have achieved measurable competencies. This Apprenticeship typically lasts 5 to 6 years. The successful recipient is to complete this apprenticeship and will reach the NZQA levels of competence along with other certificates and qualifications in line with the industry.
