The ‘Rex Pollock’ Apprenticeship is a scheme for training a new generation of operators in the crane hire industry. It’s an on-the-job training scheme and will require some reading, study, theory and practical examinations. This Apprenticeship will enable the Apprentice to gain a license to practice in a regulated profession. They will build a career for their future. Most of the training will be done while working onsite to help the recipient learn the crane business, in exchange for their continued labour for an agreed period after they have achieved measurable competencies. This Apprenticeship will typically last 5 to 6 years. The successful recipient is to complete this apprenticeship and will reach the NZQA levels of competence along with other certificates and qualifications in line with the industry.
